OUR CONCEPT
Our art concept revolves around the monochromatic paintings of the German artist Gotthard Graubner (1930- 2013). When we opened our gallery in Düsseldorf in 1997, we showed meditative minimal art, encouraging the visitors to observe actively, trying to understand how they felt and what they thought instead of looking for traces of the artist’s intention.
We emphasize the dissociation of art, not only from figure, but also from all kinds of meaning, symbolism and story. In this way, the art work becomes an object in itself, without having to represent anything else. This freedom of color and shape from any other symbolism has been the inspiration and the core concept of our work.
Although the array of art styles that we present has been widened throughout the past 20 years, (especially through the inclusion of photography,) this emphasis remains as the main criteria of our concept.
